Our client was looking for a concrete dining table to sit in the heart of her open-plan living space. Quite often, we discuss the future of the table to get an idea of what size the piece must be to suit the client’s requirements. Amber, our client, lives with her husband and three children. The main purpose for their dining table was to withstand baked-on Weetabix, spilt milk, and arguments over how long homework is likely to take. Every so often, however, our couple enjoys hosting dinner parties for their friends. We quickly got talking about the logistics of a well-hosted dinner party. Amber was quick to share some of her top tips for a dinner party that’s executed to perfection.
Anything that can be made the morning of, then dressed a moment before it’s put on the table, is perfect. We adore simple dishes like artisanal crisps and homemade dip, caviar, seasonal crostinis, or vegetable tarts cut into bite-size squares. All super simple to make in advance. “What’s the point of having friends over if I can’t sit down and enjoy their company?”. We couldn’t agree more.
“Most of your clients probably host huge dinners and invite everyone they’ve ever met. This is great; our closest friends love hosting large groups, but we’re a little more conservative with our circle, so a small, six-seater table is large enough to sit our expanding family and intimate enough to host friends.”
